General description of Dimenes 1.5 rf

Dimenes is a program useful to design metallic structures for the most common cases. Basically it is a calculator for sections of beams, columns and bars, which compares different solutions and performs qualitative and quantitative computation of materials.

Its use is oriented towards Architects, Engineers, master builders, Technicians, Metallic Construction Companies, Students, etc. Its simple use, even with basic knowledge becomes indispensable to get the best results with best usage of materials.

The tables of profiles correspond to steel ST 37 DIN standards, USA or F 22 type CIRSOC standards, Normal and of folded foil. With these profiles (that can be replaced by the author to the user's order for other profiles used in his region) you can obtain pieces of up to approximately 220 Kg per lineal meter, data that give an idea of the utilization scope.

The used calculation standards are DIN. in all that concerns to Metallic Structures The CIRSOC application standards in Argentina are similar for this use. The deformations coefficients (k) for deflections correspond to the beam type that you calculate (with a module of elasticity of 2.100.000 kg/cm2).

For example k = 6,2 for simply leaning beams with load evenly distributed and k = 9,921 for freely supported beams with a central concentrated load. These coefficients can be obtained from the different Standards, many of them are provided by the author in the USER'S MANUAL in the complete version of the program.

The data to introduce in the loads and deflections, will be the previously calculated by the user. For the dimensions of the beams must keep in mind that the height and wide of the section will always be those of the external sides. At the same time, spacing of the trusses will be taken between axes (see figure 1).

The measuring button will not be activated until all the data are completed.

Limitations of the demo version:

The present demo version doesn't limit any function of the program. The only limitation is that you won't be able to calculate all the sections available in the complete version of Dimenes.

The available sections in this Demo version are: Millimetric Profile Plate girder structure and sections made with zigzag trusses
